~ Bailey Shawley, M.Ed, CCTS-F, Specialized Parenting and Educational Consultant
When I founded B Connecting, LLC, I had several discussions with friends, mentors, and colleagues about my business name and services. We all agreed that parenting and education are at the heart of what I do, but it can be confusing to learn that I am a parenting and educational consultant who also provides individual consulting sessions for anyone over the age of five… regardless of whether they are a parent or educator or have educational challenges. To be perfectly honest, I still don’t love my title or tagline because neither appears to describe exactly what I do on a daily basis, and yet both capture the core of my unique services.

Simply put, individual consulting sessions with me are appropriate for anyone who is struggling in any way. That is such a broad and seemingly vague answer, but it’s true. Not everyone qualifies for a mental health diagnosis and treatment, and not everyone has a need for clinical counseling. But, anyone can benefit from talking with a trained listener like myself.
That’s where individual consultations come into play. We talk about individual’s struggles, challenges, fears, and goals. But, instead of diagnosing clients and writing goals for them in a treatment plan that I design, I teach clients evidence-based strategies, tools, and techniques, and I hold them accountable to start working toward the goals that they set for themselves on day one. Think of it like life coaching, but with a consultant who has the certifications, training, and experience in trauma, mental health, and education to ensure that clients successfully meet their goals.
Clients don’t have to be struggling with anxiety, depression, or anger to seek my services. They are people who want to talk to a professional who will hear them out in a confidential, judgment-free space and teach them actionable, evidence-based strategies to start implementing immediately. There also isn’t a “prescribed” number of times that clients must attend sessions, and the frequency at which they attend is up to them. The fact that I also am certified in trauma-informed practices, seasoned in providing and overseeing mental health services, and thoroughly trained in guiding clients through understanding the mind-body connection is an added bonus of scheduling an individual consultation with me.

It also is very important to me that I give clients the opportunity to see what consulting is all about before they commit to services with B Connecting, LLC. That’s why all of my initial consultations are free of charge and available either online or in person. I want clients to experience talking with me and understanding that I will push them to be honest and accountable; clients need to be ready to hear some hard truths and go beyond their comfort zone if they want to make real changes and progress. And it’s the accountability piece that I provide, in addition to the evidence-based strategies and tools that I teach clients, that helps them succeed.
There is a reason my consulting service agreement reads: “The consultant will be supportive, yet direct and challenging. You can expect this consultant to be honest and straightforward, ask meaningful questions, challenge your thinking, and suggest and model various strategies to assist you in moving forward and building positive connections.”
I am delighted to offer unique support to clients. Life is difficult for countless reasons, and I am committed to helping make things more manageable for you.
